I was kidnapped, Thursday, August 20. My 28th birthday. You can read part 1 of that story here (or just scroll down). If you’ve already read part 1…here’s part 2 which I promised yesterday. If I was smiling right before I went in the van, imagine what my reaction was after the door was closed!!!
As soon as I got in the van, the driver Mang Jimmy (but I thought his name was Mang Vic, so I was calling him that all day!) gave me this:
So I did exactly what the card said. I pulled out my earphones and listened to the PINK playlist they prepared for me. It was an awesome playlist:
Manila – Sandwich
Inevitable – Anberlin
Lifeboats – Snow Patrol
Time to Pretend – MGMT
A Mary J Blige song (no title)
I’m Good, I’m Gone – Lykke Li
Markers of Beautiful Memories – Camerawalls
Retrace – Anberlin
Honeymoon – Phoenix
Metropolis – Rico Blanco
If there’s a Rocket Tie Me to It – Snow Patrol
Dahilan – Barbie Almalbis
Snowballs and Icicles – Broken Social Scene
I will follow you into the dark – Death Cab for Cutie
My Hero – Foo Fighters
Awitin Mo, Isasayaw Ko – Pedicab
Konti Na Lang – Pedicab
Black Bird – Sarah Mclachlan
Walking After You – Foo Fighters
Love Team – Itchyworms
Ipagpatawad Mo – Mayonnaise
7/4 – Broken Social Scene
Lovesong – The Cure
On & On – Erykah Badu
Elevator Love Letter – Stars
As I listened to the songs I super like, we were stuck in the morning traffic and I was typing in what my thoughts were on my phone:
- Wow, God loves me this much!!!!
- My friends love me this much?!?!
- If God has sent me friends who can prepare something like this for me, what more my future hubby!!!
- I love the playlist!
- I hope manong driver doesn’t get lost, he said he’s not too good with directions
- I should have eaten more this morning, I’m hungry. 😦
- Wow, they really thought about this!!!
- Ok, I knew it, we’re lost!! 😦
At that point we were on Ayala Avenue and Mang Jimmy was really confused. So I asked for his phone (where the directions were written) and saw that we were headed for one of our favorite hang-out places, which was pretty near my place.
First stop was Tapa’s. Kitchie Nadal’s brother owns this place and we usually hang out here for dinner on a weekend or after a gig. When we got to Tapa’s, no one was there except the staff. Since they knew who I was, they told me that breakfast was gonna be served soon (everything was pre-ordered). I didn’t really want to eat breakfast alone, so I asked Mang Jimmy to join me and we got to talk about his kids and who he’s driven for and I got to tell him briefly how God changed my life.
After breakfast, one of the guys from Tapa’s gave me a beautiful bouquet with another pink and brown card. It was obviously time for my next stop. But before we left the place, I just had to get a photo with the guys at Tapa’s who tried to hide their smiles all throughout the time we were there!
As soon as we got in the van, I just had to take a photo of the gorgeous bouquet my friends got me. I was amazed. This was the exact set of flowers my dad would get for mom every Saturday after we did our grocery shopping when I was a kid.
And..this is the card that came with the bouquet….
As we headed for our next stop, Hair Shaft, I got my phone out and started typing away what my thoughts were.
(I knew about Hair Shaft because Mang Jimmy, the driver, asked me over breakfast if I knew where it is! This time I had no idea where it was coz I’ve never been there!)
My thoughts throughout the trip to Hair Shaft (while listening to the Pink playlist):
- That was very sweet to have the staff at Tapa’s be part of this. Tapa’s will never be the same.
- I wonder what they asked the Hair Shaft Staff to do..
- I super like the song “Heroes” by Foo Fighters! I’m glad it’s on the playlist!
- Wooohoo! Pedicab is on the playlist!
- God is AWESOME!
- Wow…I’m soo happy!
- Yehey, Itchyworms! I love this song!
- For the first time today, I’ve got butterflies in my tummy!
- Wow! Erykah Badu!! Woohoo! (owie singing) “oh what a day, what a day!”
When we got to Hair Shaft, I was led to my chair and was introduced to the team that was gonna work on me. I was told that I was there to get a manicure and pedicure, plus get my hair and make-up done too! I had 5 people working on me. My hair was curled and my make-up was beautifully light and my nails – RED!
As they were working on me, I noticed this guy who had sunglasses on, inside the salon! I thought it was odd. But what was more odd was the fact that I noticed him! In my head: “Oh well, that’s probably just his style!”
After being all made-up, where do u think the next stop was?! There could be a million and one answers…but you’ll find out where I was brought to next, tomorrow! 🙂
